Other Investments

Benpres has investments in non-core business, including health care delivery, property development and New Economy ventures.

Rockwell

Rockwell Land Corporation started development of Rockwell Center, a 15-hectare inner city project in Makati that was once a Meralco thermal power plant, in May 1995. The project is owned 24.5% by Benpres, 24.5% by FPHC and 51% by Meralco, which contributed the land as its share of the equity.

The project will be developed in two phases. The first phase covers the development of about two-thirds of the property into a mixed-use subdivision consisting of four high-rise residential buildings, a luxury hotel, a 50-storey office tower and a retail center called The Power Plant. Phinma and Nestle Corporation have transferred their head offices to Rockwell Center. The first phase is also home to the relocated Ateneo Professional Schools, which opened in November 1998, and a sports and leisure club called Rockwell Leisure Club.

The second phase - most likely comprised of serviced apartments and condotels - is still in the drawing boards.
